A Well Marked Low Pressure area lies over the west-central and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal, centred near 17.2°N, 88.8°E as of 0300 UTC on 21 September 2026. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the system is very likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a Depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours, and further into a Deep Depression over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 24 hours.
Continuing on this track, it is very likely to reach near the north Andhra Pradesh – south Odisha coast around 0000 UTC of 23 September 2026.
The system has not yet been classified as a Depression and has not been assigned a name. At this stage, IMD has not issued a specific sustained wind speed or central pressure figure for the system — these will be published once it organizes into a Depression.
Residents along the forecast track, particularly in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, should monitor official IMD bulletins for updates as the system develops.
